Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday claimed huge results in the Championship on Tuesday night to move themselves clear of the relegation zone.
Barnsley faced a tough trip to league leaders Cardiff and, despite a resistant first-half display, the Yorkshire club went 1-0 down after Ben Turner scored from close-range following Bo-Kyung Kim’s corner.
Stephen Foster was the Tykes hero as he snatched a point that sees Barnsley move up to 19th in the table, two points clear of the drop zone.
Sheffield Wednesday came from behind at Millwall as they climbed up to 14th in the Championship, putting six points between them and Blackburn in 22nd.
Nadjim Abdou put the Lions, who play Wigan in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on Saturday, ahead after two minutes before defender Miguel Angel Llera equalised five minutes before half-time.
Much like Barnsley at Cardiff, Wednesday too were the beneficiary’s of a last minute goal – Chris Maguire, who came off the bench to replace Jeremy Helan 10 minutes before normal time, claimed all three points for the Owls as they look good to retain their Championship status for another year.
