Arsenal have responded to fans’ letters and emails at concerns of the lack of signings by the club this summer.
While the Gunners have been linked with numerous marquee names during the transfer window, with around a week-and-a-half remaining until deadline day on September 2, the only new acquisition is that of France U20 striker Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre.
Arsenal have missed out on a number of signings this summer including, Luiz Gustavo, Gonzalo Higuain and boss Arsene Wenger revealed that there is “absolutely no chance” of signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
In an email sent to fans, the club insisted that they “have been working hard throughout the summer” in trying to sign new players, adding that “this will continue until the end of the transfer window”.
The email reads, “Many thanks for your email. We understand and share your disappointment that Arsenal Football Club plc have not secured any acquisitions on players for the new season.
“In terms of our dealings in the transfer market, we can assure you we have been working hard throughout the summer to bring in additional players and this will continue until the end of the transfer window.
“We are clear that our ambition at Arsenal is to compete for and win trophies. This ambition is shared by our majority owner Stan Kroenke, the board, Arsène Wenger and everyone who works for the Club.
“I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and valued support of Arsenal Football Club plc.
‘On Behalf of Arsenal Football Club.”
